Caribbean Stud

Caribbean Stud Poker was originated in the Caribbean and has since gained popularity with poker players across the world. Almost all land based casinos offer Caribbean Stud Poker as do most online casinos as well. If they player is playing a progressive jackpot version of Caribbean poker they must also place an additional ante towards the progressive jackpot. In order to begin playing the game a player must first place a wager on the forthcoming hand. The player is then dealt 5 cards face down. The dealer gets four cards face down and one card face up.

After the cards have been dealt if the player believes he has a stronger hand than the dealer he must then wager an additional wager of exactly twice the ante bet. If the player chooses to fold his hand he will lose his ante.

Now the dealer must an Ace/King or better to continue to play after the initial cards are dealt. If he does not then his hand does not qualify, the players ante wager is paid even money (1 to1) and the bet wager is a push. If the dealer has an Ace/King or better and the players hand is higher in rank than the dealer’s hand, the player then collects on his ante and the bet he wagered. If the dealers hand and the players hand tie then the ante and bet wagered are both pushes and no action is taken.
